About This Blog

I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.

Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com
-Brian Venable

Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords

Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)

Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

Any chance of you doing Hearts on Fire?

Noah said...

Yeah, I'll post something for it because I've had a few requests, but I don't have a lot of confidence in it. Maybe it'll start a collaborative dialogue, though.

I can't get enough of this site. It's like electric crack! Thanks for your time and effort. I'll be doing back-flips when you find the time to post "What are you willing to lose"!

"It's like electric crack" wins the compliment of the year award.

Thanks again! I chickend out on the back-flip, but I did two cartwheels and a Curly "coffee grinder".

Any chances you know "Is That You I've Been Kissing"?

Noah said...

I don't know it, but I can give it a shot.

I don't think there's much to One More Drink. I'll give it a shot when I get a little time.

Has anyone done "Dog Day Night"? I love that song and just can't seem to get it right...

Noah said...

Dog Day Night has thwarted me so far. I admit I think I've only tried it once, but I couldn't even get started. I wonder if it might not be in standard tuning. I'm gonna have to ask Ben about that in October.

I don't know whether to be happy (that I am not the only one having serious trouble with it) or sad that you are having trouble too! Thanks for replying though...you have done amazing stuff here!

Noah said...

Thanks. I'm glad you like the site.

If it helps, I feel pretty confident that during the churning chords of the verses he's doing something sort of similar to what he does on Maggie. You can sort hear his ring finger hammering on and pulling off some chord. But it sounds like he's hitting a lot of open strings, too. That's why I wonder if it might be an experiment with dropped D, or something. I'll try to spend some more time with it next week.

Never mind. That theory was way off. Now I'm toying with a 3x0033/3x0333 G thing. That's more Ben's style, anyway. It's gonna have to wait until at least Monday for any more attention, though.

can you do "In lonesome times" from dreaming in america? :)

Unknown said...

That's funny - I was thinking it was a ring finger bend D (on the g string), but then the open strings just threw me...the G sounds interesting. I'll have to mess with that - I think you are right though...he must have it tuned down. Thanks!!!!!

Noah said...

The tab's up now. I toyed with it for a while, and this sounds right to me. Let me know what you think.

Noah said...

Ryan, I don't think the Dreaming in America version of In Lonesome Times is any different than the Attic Tapes version, and there's a tab for that in the Attic Tapes index.

is it possible to get 100 Miles on the Other Side of Lonesome on here?

Noah said...

Victor, it's already posted under the title On the Other Side of Lonesome.

Awesome site.... I can remember when all the tabs were just "Pretty close" on the message board of the old Lucero site, now they are all really damn close thanks to all your hard work. Anyone got anything for When You Decided to Leave Me?

Noah said...

Thanks Dillon. When You Decided to Leave is in the tabs for That Much Further West.

Would you he able to post tabs for Ben's version of "Delia's Gone"?

Noah said...

I keep meaning to get to Delia's gone, but I haven't found the time. I'll definitely get to it, but probably not in the next few weeks.

Christopher said...

You should do "Shelter"

John said...

Would you be able to the tab for Ben's version of "bruised ribs"? Thanks Noah!

your_orphan said...

To John and Christopher above me - this may seem a bit stalkerish but I can shoot you guys real quick tabs I did of both of those songs if you put up your e-mails. I have them in Notepad. No clue how to put that sort of them up on the internet, though. I haven't fiddled with any sort of webpage coding since I was in middle school. :)

sweet if you could send em to christopher.d.jones87@gmail.com thatd be awesome

Noah, you're the man and I hope everything good is coming your way. Anyhow, your site is awesome and I'd like to make a contribution, even though it's not up to your standards. I really don't know if this is the way to do this but:

BABY DON'T YOU WANT ME
Lucero
G Em C D Em

G
When we first met, I'd count the days
Em
I'd make excuses, just to say your name
C D Em
And baby don't you want me, baby don't you want me

I'd wait all night, for you to call
Well, don't you think, of me at all
Baby don't you want me, baby don't you want me

Chorus Am C G
And now I have a heart, it's like a hornets’ nest
D Am
It's swarming in my mouth, and busting through my chest
C G
But I could live that way, I'd take all that pain
D
To have your heart be mine
C G
Baby don't you feel the same, baby don't you feel the same

Another night, away from home
Away from you, it ain't easy I know, but
Baby don't you want me, baby don't you want me

Repeat Chorus

Bridge Em C G
It's gon' be a long ride home, tomorrow
Em C G
From Tennessee, to Texas to LA
Em C G G/F# Em
Well if I could I'd never leave you, I'd come home to stay
C D G
Girl I love you, baby don't you feel the same

Verse Break / Repeat Chorus

2X - Baby don't you want me, Baby don't you want me

I don't know what HTML tags are and I see the chord formatting disappeared. If there's something I could do to help it, give me guidance and I'll do it. Again, I think you're the best!
