About This Blog

I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.

Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords

Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)

Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

Hearts On Fire

Alright, I've had a number of requests for this one, and it's a semi-regular part of their live sets, so I figure I should give it a go, but I'm not sure about it at all. The second chord is a little wonky, I think it's D/F# (200230). Anyhow, let's consider this a starting point. If anybody thinks they have a better bead on it, please shoot me an email.

Verses:

G_________________D/F#
Some nights don't pan out at all
G_______________D/F#
Some nights are gold
G____________________________D/F#
In this run down, burned out shell of a town
D______A_______G
That I call my home

G______________________D/F#
Smoke filled bars, and loud guitars
G___________D/F#
One game of pool
G____________________________D/F#
It was just one look, it was just one smile
D_______A___________G
Now I'm playing the fool

Chorus:

D____________A________________G
My hearts on fire burnin with desire

A A G G D/F#____________________________________A
__________My hearts on fire, its one thing I've found
A___________G____________________D/F#
Flames burn brighter when you're around
A___________________________G________________________________D/F#
Those flames burn brighter, flames burn brighter when you're around
A___________________________G________________________________D/F#
Those flames burn brighter, flames burn brighter when you're around

Punk rock girls and lone star beer
Means tonight will be ok
And if I could get your attention my dear
Things might go my way

Some nights don't pan out at all
Some nights are gold
I'd be richer than a old time 49er
If you were mine to hold

Choruses etc...

Anyone know the fills that go in between the AA GG D/F# after the first line of the chours?

I actually just figured that out a couple weeks ago. I'll try to update it this weekend. In the meantime, I think it's mostly -2-h-4- on the D and G strings. It starts with open A and when the chord changes there are a couple low G notes in there that you'll probably want to fret with your thumb.
