About This Blog

I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.

Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords

Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)

Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

On the Other Side of Lonesome

Apparently, this song missed the cut for 1372 Overton Park. Pity. Luckily, they decided to give the demo away as a freebie for Lucero Social Club members. And NineBullets.net decided to pass it on to everyone. So if you haven't heard it, for now at least, you can download it here. (By the way, Nine Bulets is almost definitely the best MP3 blog for Lucero-esque music. If you're not visiting, you should be.) One more thing: on the fall 2009 tour, Ben's been playing this a little differently. I haven't bothered to work it out, but it sounds like he switched up the chorus chords. I decided to stick with this version because most people will end up with the demo and be trying to play it like that.

Verse:

G
A hundred miles on the other side of lonesome
Em7
A hundred miles past anything called fair
D____________________________Cadd9
Ain't no need to question my devotion
G________________________D______________G
For the girl I love, all burdens will I bear

Chorus:

G
Oh sweet Mary, where'd you go
Em7
Kissed you lips just days ago
D___________________________________Cadd9
Now it seems I'm still here wasting time
G
A hundred miles of empty road
Em7
Worn out hearts and teeth of gold
D___________________________________Cadd9
Feel like I could just lay down and die
G____________________________________D
On the other side of lonesome Dogtown nights
__________Em7________________________Cadd9
There's a girl that I cannot leave behind
G____________________________________D
On the other side of lonesome Dogtown nights
__________Em7_______________________Cadd9
There's a girl waiting for me by and by

Verse 2
A hundred miles on the other side of lonesome
A hundred miles past any kind of plan
All I know is I could drink and ocean
Of whiskey if I can't see her again

Chorus

G
I guess I'll sit awhile
D
I just covered a hundred miles
Em7____________________________________Cadd9
Think I'll sit right here and drink my fill
G
Yesterday's gone with the wind
D
Tomorrow's on its way again
Em7_____________________________Cadd9
Figure it'll bring just what it will

Chorus
