About This Blog

I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.

Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords

Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)

Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

try this (take 2) rather than just strumming the open A string in the verse, add the 7th fret of the D string with it...

-----9-9-----9-9-------
-7-7-----7-7-----------
-0-0-----0-0-----------

then, when the chorus comes up, try adding the 7th D again like so...

-9-9-9-9----9-9-9-9----------------
-0-0-0-0----7-7-7-7----------------
-7-7-7-7----9-9-9-9----------------

tell me if you like that, that's just the way i figured it out after the cd came out...great site, wish i'd found it sooner

That's interesting. (Thanks for the comment.) I'm not sure I hear the the extra notes when Ben plays it, but I definitely think adding the octave notes fleshes it out nicely, especially for the A parts. The open D on the E part doesn't work for me, though. That'd make it some sort of mutant E7. I think the right move there, if you're looking to augment it, is to add the 5th note by playing the D string at the 9th fret (a B note).

Do you think that the accordian part could be played on a harmonica?

John, I don't know. I've never spent more than a few minutes playing around with a harmonica. I imagine you could arrange something close, though.

(Sorry it took so long to respond.)
