About This Blog

I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.

Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords

Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)

Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

It May Be Too Late

Here's the fourth new song to emerge from the next album. You can see a cool video of it here.

As is often the case with Ben, the key implies that the B chords are minor, but he plays them as B5 (power chords). Point is, if you're going to play the full chord, it sounds better minor.

Verses/intro riff:

Show me a sign it might save me somehow

Riff
Now I could get better, or I could get drunk

Riff

Riff
Gonna pay up my tab, make it back accross town

Riff
Call one more time, see if she'd come near the house

G
Now in the past I've gone astray

Great stuff and great new song. Thanks for putting these out here. I wish that I could play them as well as you from your videos, but I'll settle for hacking my way through.

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm strictly an amateur, but I get a little better every hour that I play, and you will, too. Have fun while you're doing it.

what tuning is used? and could you show the chords. Because i tried to play it and it did not sound anywhere near as deep an powerful as in the video.

It's standard tuning and normal chords. As far as I know, Davey Jones is the only song Ben's done outside of standard tuning, and that's just dropped D.

Great song and great tab!
Btw. the song you mean is called Davey Brown ;)
Davey Jones is the guy from Pirates of the Carribean :D

I was referring to the guy from the Monkeys, not the pirate. ;-) Either way, you're right. Thanks!

Beginning riffs can be replaced by strumming D-A-G for the other non-note playing hacks!!
Thanks, man...the site kicks ass.

I am pretty sure this tabis wrong...the song seems to be in the same keys as the first two on the album.....sounds to me that it starts in E goes to A then B there's a c# in the chorus too.
