He uses a picking pattern throughout this whole song that goes from the bass note of whatever chord he's playing to the B string to the bass to the G string.
For Em it goes like this:
----------
---0------
--------0-
----------
----------
-0----0---
And for D it goes like this:
----------
---3------
--------2-
-0----0---
----------
----------
Easy, right?
Em G Em G
Em_____________________G
In my hands I hold the ashes
G_____Em________________G
In my veins black pitch runs
G_____C______________Em
In my chest the fire catches
Em____D_____________C
In my way a setting sun
Em_________________G
Dark clouds gather round me
G______Em______________G
To the West my soul is bound
G__________C___________Em
But I will go on ahead free
Em_________D_______________C
There is a light yet to be found
Em____________D_____C______G
The last pale light in the west
Em____________D_____C______G
The last pale light in the west
Em G Em G
Em_________________G
And I ask for no redemption
G_______Em______________G
In this cold and barren place
G_______C____________Em
Still I see faint reflection
Em________D___________C
And so by it guide my way
Em____________D_____C______G
The last pale light in the west
Em____________D_____C______G
The last pale light in the west
About This Blog
I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.
Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.
Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords
Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)
Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

Done. I saw that two of the new songs made it onto the Revival Tour CD. Some of the other ones are as good or better, though, so you should check those out, too.
Where can I find this album at? I have the rest of them.
It's available in the luceromusic.com store and there's a link in the index post.
