About This Blog

I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.

Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords

Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)

Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).

Nights Like These

There's a chord in this song that's a D with a B in the bass. When Ben plays it live he fingers it like (7577xx). The tab I learned it from fingered it like (x20230) and that's how I play it. Anyhow, let's call it D/B.

Also, I'm not positive the B chords are actually minor (they could be B5), but that's how they sound best to my ears.

Brian's lead and Ben's solo are now tabbed at the bottom of the post.

verses:

D
It's nights like these
D/B
that make you sleep all day
D
It's nights like these
G
that make you feel so far away

D
It's nights like these
D/B
When nothing is for sure
D
It's nights like these
G
I don't want you anymore

chorus:

D_________________A
And I've only got this one wish
Bm_____________________________G
that I was good enough to make you forget
D_____________________A
the only boy who ever broke your heart
A______________________G
Nights like these tear me apart

D
It's nights like these
D/B
The sad songs don't help
D
It's nights like these
G
Your heart's with someone else

D
It's nights like these
D/B
I feel like giving up
D
It's nights like these
G
I don't seem to count for much

D_________________A
And I've only got this one wish
Bm_____________________________G
that I was good enough to make you forget
D_____________________A
the only boy who ever broke your heart
A______________________G
Nights like these tear me apart

Bridge:

D________________A______Bm__________G
beer tastes like blood, my mouth is numb
A____________________________________G
and I can't make the words i need to say
D__________________________________A
she had a weakness for writers and I
A___________________________G
I was never that could with words anyways

Do you have a tab for his faster acoustic version of this song? I've been watching the videos but it's hard to make out. Sometimes theres a capo, sometimes there isn't.

Thanks!

Sorry, somehow this comment fell through the cracks. I've never seen a video of Ben using a capo, so I'd be curious to see that. When he plays the faster acoustic version he just strums the verse chords really fast. Otherwise, it should be the same. He definitely plays those chords as (x577xx) and (7577xx).
