Slept for months in British rain
Am______C__________F______C
Tore it up down in London town
D____________________________F
And they shipped me back out again
C_________________G___________F___________C
The preacher said Boys he who is killed tonight

And I fought at the Maginot line
Am_____C_________F
Road a tank into Belgium
G__________________________F
Liked them better than the French
Am______C______F______________C
Like my daddy, thirty years before
D__________________F
I did my time in a trench
Am______C_______________F
Lots of days there's no water
G______________________F
But the liquor kept me warm
Am_______________C________________F_____________C
The cellars were stocked to their ceilings with booze
D_____________________________F
So I carried a bottle with my gun
C_________________G___________F___________C
The preacher said Boys he who is killed tonight
_____D_________________________F
will dine with the Lord in Paradise
C_____________G________F_____________C
One boy spoke up, said preacher come on
D____________________F
eat your supper with us
Am____C_____________F
Three times I made sergeant
G____________________F
I'm not that kind of man
Am_________C____________F__________C
And pretty much just as quick as I could
D_____________________________F
I get busted back to private again
Am___________C____________F
Cause taking orders never suited me
G______________________F
Giving them out was much worse
Am______C____________F______________C
I could not stand to get my friends killed
D________________________F
So I took care of myself first
Am____C_______________F
Now I know that don't sound right
G______________________F
Don't think too bad of me
Am_____C________F_________C
Now it keeps me up nights
D_____________________________F
What I could have done differently
C_________________G___________F___________C
The preacher said Boys he who is killed tonight
_____D_________________________F
will dine with the Lord in Paradise
C_____________G________F_____________C
One boy spoke up, said preacher come on
D____________________F
eat your supper with us
C_________G____________F____________C
I'd be no guest at the table of the Lord
D______________________F
His food was not to be mine
C__________________G__________F_____________C
Cause I cursed His name every chance that I could
D________________________________F
And I recon that's why I'm still alive
About This Blog
I started this blog because the tabs on the Lucero message board kept getting lost when they switched sites. A blog isn't a perfect forum for guitar tabs and chords, but it now has posts for all but a handful of their songs. And, to the best of my knowledge, this is the only source for Lucero tabs that has been endorsed by an actual Lucero guitarist. Accept no substitutes.
Thank you to the folks who have sent me submissions, suggestions, and corrections. Thanks also to anyone who posted a tab on the luceromusic.com boards. You can find me there posting as Boston Twang. You can also email me at lucerotabs@gmail. Submissions and/or corrections are greatly appreciated.
Holy shit! That's how that goes... www.lucerotabs.blogspot.com

General Thoughts on Lucero Chords
Ben seems to favor chord variations that fret the B string at the third fret. If a C, Em, G, or A doesn't seem quite right, try:
Cadd9 (x32030), Em7 (022030), G (320033), Asus (x02230)
Also, I think he leaves the E string open on a lot of his D chords (xx0230).
